12 Marathons in 12 Months

So good evening seems like an appropriate place to start. Who knows who's going to read this; perhaps no one - but then this is a personal challenge, and the creation of a blog is to motivate myself to keep going. Perhaps writing down my exploits will help me put on the trainers when I really don't feel like it? We'll see.

I promise to try and not write essays here! No one wants to read that. But what I will try to do is to tell you what I'm getting up to.
What is that?
I want to run a marathon in each month of 2013.

I've run marathons before - 3 over the last 5 years: London 2008; Brighton 2011, and Richmond Park (in south west London) in May of this year (2012). I think my decision to do 12 next year is the longing for a bigger challenge, and is inspired by reading Dean Karnazes UltraMarathon Man - a truly amazing book, written by an incredible runner. The idea of being able to run such distance had never crossed my mind before reading that book, and it's got me thinking, how far could I go? I hope that a year's worth of serious running will push my personal boundaries, and push me towards distances I've not yet covered.

Today I booked the first of next years marathons - Edinburgh at the end of May.
